Unprimed Brass Cases

444 Marlin (Large Rifle primer)

2.210 - 2.215 O.A.L.

The 444 Marlin was introduced in the mid- 60's to give their model 336 Levergun a boost in horsepower.  Over the years the .444 has been offered in a number of rifles and even a few pistols. It is another caliber that is seeing new life due to the changing game laws in many states allowing straightwall cartridges for deer hunting where they were previously limited to slug guns and muzzleloaders.

I can always count on Starline brass for making the caliber brass I use. Like the .444 Marlin and the 357 Maximum. Noticed that premier ammo manufacturing outfits like Underwood are using their brass so it has to be good. I have no complaints but only thumbs up for Starline brass.

I received a few of these cases for a trial run for making 309 JDJ cartridges. I know that 99.9% of these reviews are for people that simply use the cases for what they were intended and for that purpose these cases are wonderful. They are well made as usual and perfect in every dimension. Making of a 309 JDJ requires some additional work so be prepared. I was able to make the 309 from these cases but not before ruining a few. First they will need to be annealed. Secondly you will need to make this a three step sizing process. First use a 358 Win sizing die to start the downsizing and then go to a 308 Win sizing die. The double step process will ease the reforming of the brass which is heavy duty and wonderful once you get there. Other JDJ calibers should work much smoother and may not require annealing but be prepared. I highly recommend Starline and have thousands of cases which have not failed me yet. I keep looking for new offerings and would buy them in a heartbeat. Keep up the great product Starline.

I've tested this brass against other brands, and can honestly say it is the most consistent and strongest brass available for the 444 Marlin. If you want to improve accuracy in your rifle, Starline's uniform flash holes and case dimensions with minimal variances will help you achieve that right out of the box.

I've had two .444 Marlins since their introduction and have fired mainly reloads in them. Not pretty guns but the kind that get you out of bad situations and leave an impression on you and what you hit. Other hunters ask to use them. Now that STARLINE has brought out brass, I feel the value of my two locomotives have just doubled in value!
