Starline 444 cartridge cases works well in my Marlin 444s, also easy to reform to Win. 356 or 307 brass. I reform 444 bras to Win. 356 brass by using a Redding 358 win. forming and trim die, trim to 356 Win. spec. then use a Win. 358/356 full sizing die. You could anneal after each step, but I didn't I just made three dummy rounds and cycled them through my Win. AE 356 Win. I understand the 444 reformed to 356 Win. will work in the Marlin but in my Win. I had to filed down the rim to the 356 Win. spec diameter. My guess to reform to 307 Win. it may need a Redding 358 win. reforming and trim and a 308 win. reforming die too.

I bought 250 of these to use in 45/.410 handguns using alliant 2400 and magnum pistol primers. They're a bit shorter than actual 410 2.5" hulls but it beats the heck out of finding and fireforming 303 british or 9.3x74R. There is some minor fireforming as they lose that characteristic .444 taper - but they basically don't need any attention short of de-priming after the first firing and will likely survive forever at such a low pressure. As I understand it this set up is not recommended for lever or pump guns (at least not without some significant tweaks) but they work just fine in my bond arms derringer and governor.

I can always count on Starline brass for making the caliber brass I use. Like the .444 Marlin and the 357 Maximum. Noticed that premier ammo manufacturing outfits like Underwood are using their brass so it has to be good. I have no complaints but only thumbs up for Starline brass.

I received a few of these cases for a trial run for making 309 JDJ cartridges. I know that 99.9% of these reviews are for people that simply use the cases for what they were intended and for that purpose these cases are wonderful. They are well made as usual and perfect in every dimension. Making of a 309 JDJ requires some additional work so be prepared. I was able to make the 309 from these cases but not before ruining a few. First they will need to be annealed. Secondly you will need to make this a three step sizing process. First use a 358 Win sizing die to start the downsizing and then go to a 308 Win sizing die. The double step process will ease the reforming of the brass which is heavy duty and wonderful once you get there. Other JDJ calibers should work much smoother and may not require annealing but be prepared. I hig

Thanks Starline, great product! Another product produced from the efforts and interest of Leverscoundrels and Marlin Owners. The 444 is where its at.

I've tested this brass against other brands, and can honestly say it is the most consistent and strongest brass available for the 444 Marlin. If you want to improve accuracy in your rifle, Starline's uniform flash holes and case dimensions with minimal variances will help you achieve that right out of the box.

I've had two .444 Marlins since their introduction and have fired mainly reloads in them. Not pretty guns but the kind that get you out of bad situations and leave an impression on you and what you hit. Other hunters ask to use them. Now that STARLINE has brought out brass, I feel the value of my two locomotives have just doubled in value!
