Bruce Piatt’s interest in the shooting sports began as a youngster admiring his grandfather’s firearm collection. With encouragement from his father, Bruce enrolled in the NRA 50ft. Small Bore Junior’s Program at a local indoor range and the seed was planted as he rose through the ranks. By the mid-80’s Bruce competed at his first IPSC pistol match, which led to others on the east coast competition circuit. In 1986 Bruce graduated from the NJ State Police Academy, becoming a police officer in his hometown. The flexible work schedule permitted Bruce to travel the country competing at every match he could attend. His shooting disciplines include Action Pistol, Tactical 3-Gun, USPSA/IPSC, Steel Challenge and the Sportsman’s Team Challenge. A highlight of Bruce’s competition career was getting married in 1993 and spending his honeymoon competing at and winning his first Bianchi Cup in Columbia, Missouri.
Now retired from a stellar 32 year Law Enforcement career, Bruce is a speaker, shooting instructor and the founder of Bruce Piatt Training Concepts, LLC. While maintaining a multi-discipline competition schedule, Bruce is a R&D consultant to outdoor industry manufacturers, he’s an influential industry spokesperson and Shooting Sports Ambassador. Bruce is available to offer Custom 1911 Gunsmith classes across the country.
